Some 24 hours later...

It was a crazy idea and it took a lot of work, but my commitment to homemade carried me through and I managed to finish the dress and the cupcakes for our outing to the park in East Village on Saturday morning. At the end I had a completely homemade present, wrapping, and "почерпка" (what in Bulgaria is called the sweets/food and drinks one brings to people to note a special event).
All in all, I realized it takes a lot more planning to have plenty of time to create "homemade". Planning time is just as important as doing time. I will keep that lesson in mind, for it is important to be able to enjoy homemade creation and not rush through it madly. Like I had to.
And by the way, I am buying a cupcake pan for next time. Although it is possible to bake in the paper cups, it will come out flat. They were still delicious, and I used my homemade sour cherry syrup in the buttercream, however, I am going to be very American, and go and get the tools I need.
The dough for the cupcakes.

Realized I do NOT have a cupcake pan. As a total try-it-as-you-go doer, I decided to just spoon the dough in the cupcake papers anyway.
While making the cupcakes, I was also running to the sewing machine, and here is baby A with the dress I made for baby B.
Packing for the playground- I am bringing homemade juice, ice and the cupcakes.
I drew the "pattern" on the back of the fabric. I wanted a very square abstract top and a princess-like bottom that fans out from the large base of the top. Two strings tie behind the neck.

To pack the dress I recycled a fancy bag and wrapped the dress in a napkin with birthday wishes.

I made the exact same dress for baby A as well, but with a blue skirt. I like how the bottom fans out just like I imagined.

The juice and what came out as mini-cakes set up on a bench in the park.
