Alley Pond Environmental Center, Visit 1 Fiddler Crabs

Low-tide on Friday, July 26th, 2013. We walked along the boarded elevated pathway toward the open waterway, the end of the Little Neck Bay estuary. It was a very cloudy day and Ava was pulling on my hand peering in between the wide but smooth boards down toward the drained soft surface.
When we got to the end of the pathway at the lookout toward the open water and reeds, we saw that the tide was at its lowest point and the what is normally a full pool of water was now a big open muddy bowl bottom with hundreds and hundreds of Fiddler Crabs.
